I was incredibly honored to even be considered to produce the music for “Dragon Ball.” I grew up being such a big fan, and I never thought I would ever to be able to work on something like that. I have always aspired to write theme songs and score music. Composing music for something that influenced many of childhood years is an absolute dream.

It's thanks to Dragon Ball that I’ve been able to surpass my own lyrical limits time and time again.
However, to be honest, I’ve always been secretly worried about just how far my words can keep up with the growing strength of Goku (lol).
But Toriyama-sensei has done it again! By changing the direction from “battle” to “adventure” with DAIMA, he’s led us to fresh excitement.
If ever you feel hurt and your heart feels small, I hope you’ll sing along with this fanfare I created together with Zedd and C&K and think of your DAIMA company.
May courage light your next step in life.

Debuted as a composer and songwriter in 1976.
Since then, while creating a world of avant-garde lyrics, he has created numerous pop and anime song hits, releasing over 2,800 songs to date. Recently, he’s also been active in the musical world. Not only has he written lyrics for domestic musicals as well as translations of lyrics from Broadway, but he has also made multiple announcements about original musicals he has written, composed, and produced. Yukinojo Mori’s new challenge has leapt over barriers spanning multiple genres, making it hard to keep one’s eyes off him.

I first discovered Dragon Ball when I was in elementary school, and each week I could hardly wait for the next episode to air on TV. I remember the sheer excitement I felt at that time to this day. Dragon Ball DAIMA really made my heart sing because certain parts of it reminded me of the original style I had seen back then. Many musicians have worked on music for the Dragon Ball series up until now, so I want to create a new world of music while also respecting their works. I hope that everyone feels a lot of excitement as well!

Born in Shizuoka, Japan in 1974.
A graduate of Tokyo College of Music majoring in Composition (Film Scoring).
Yamashita is a prominent composer in Japan, and has scored for the numbers of Japanese commercial productions such as the motion picture Tenkosei: Sayonara Anata (2007) , Kono Sora no Hana: Nagaoka Hanabi Monogatari (2012) directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi, the TV series Hitomi (2005), Hana Yori Dango (2005), Kurosagi (2006), Kamen Rider Seiba (2020), Abataro Sentai Don Brothers (2022), the animation films Chihayafuru (2011), and for the internationally popular video game series Nobunaga no Yabou, among many other successful entertainment productions in Japan.
Yamashita has also arranged for artists, orchestral concerts and recordings, and also for the TV shows such as Untitled Concert. He was the musical director for the musical theater productions Pacific Overtures and Sweeney Todd, directed by Amon Miyamoto.
Currently, Yamashita teaches at Tokyo College of Music as a guest professor, and Senzoku Gakuen College of Music as a professor, and is a member of the board of directors of Japan composers & arrangers associations (JCAA).
